342. Power of Four

Description

Given an integer n, return true if it is a power of four. Otherwise, return false.

An integer n is a power of four, if there exists an integer x such that n == 4x.

Example 1:

Input: n = 16
Output: true

Example 2:

Input: n = 5
Output: false

Example 3:

Input: n = 1
Output: true

Constraints:

  • -231 <= n <= 231 - 1

Follow up: Could you solve it without loops/recursion?

Solutions

Solution: Recursion

  • Time complexity: O(1)
  • Space complexity: O(1)

JavaScript

js
/**
 * @param {number} n
 * @return {boolean}
 */
const isPowerOfFour = function (n) {
  if (n === 0) return false;
  if (n === 1) return true;
  if (n % 4 !== 0) return false;

  return isPowerOfFour(n / 4);
};
